PublicSpace

PublicSpace is a groupware system developed by Frank Reiff at the Cooperative Systems Engineering Group at Lancaster University in the United Kingdom. It is based on and augments the Macintosh file sharing mechanism to better support group work.

What Does It Do ?

PublicSpace adds:

• annotations
• an automatic notification service
• usage information on files and folders
• improved navigation through the shared file space

to the Macintosh file sharing mechanism.

What Is It For ?

PublicSpace provides small to medium size groups using a Macintosh network with a quick and easy way of setting up a group workspace. It is meant to ease and improve cooperation within these groups.

PublicSpace allows you to create:

• annotated shared file spaces
• electronic notice boards
• discussion groups
• simple mail
• mailing lists
• simple workflows

and many other cooperation structures within seconds.
